Oliver Harvest Flavors - Watermelon...

So Oliver Winery has been doing these 'harvest flavors' for a couple of years and I make no secret that I'm not the biggest fan of the line.  In particular I cannot stand the Black Cherry...it tastes like a cherry cough drop to me....Luden's maybe?

Anyway...I'm willing to give everything a shot and even a second chance.  This year they came out with new flavors...Watermelon & Passion Fruit.

Today on a whim while at the store buying dinner I thought "I'm gonna buy an Indiana wine to review for the blog, cuz I've been very neglectful."
So I saw the Watermelon in the cooler...yay no cooling time! So I'm literally drinking it right now...no lie...check the webcam shot....

I had to drink quite a bit before giving a fair review because I had just brushed my teeth...durrr.

So now that my palate is clean...or at least not minty anymore...here we go...

Alrighty...
It's a very light pink color as you can see from the pic.

Holy sugar it's sweet!  Whew!  I expected it to be, I knew this line was made from honey.  But wow.
Ok...be fair....
You know watermelon Jolly Ranchers?...Yea...in a glass.

Ok...I can see many peeps liking this one, but only if they reeeeaaally like the sweet wines.  Winos will not like it.  Although I can see this being incredibly good very chilled with a little sparkling water as an ice cold spritzer on a hot summer day.  THAT I would like!!!  A little thinned out would be better because although the texture is not syrupy it's so sweet that it seems like it is thick.

But if you are a Hoosier you probably like your wines sweet...lets face it that's the Midwest for ya.  But if you are a wino that happens to be in the Midwest...just know what to expect!!!

Yea, I decided not to do my formal rating scale thing.  I don't know why.  Just didn't.  SUE ME!  :)

Not something I'd buy all the time, definitely a summer thing...and 'emjoy' at your own risk...I would recommend drinking it the spritzer route, but if sweet is your thing and you stockpile watermelon Jolly Ranchers because you can't get enough...you will loooove this wine.

I, however, give it an overall rating of 4, estimating 6-7 as a spritzer.

Ah, I may have to try this! The whole jolly rancher thing makes me curious. I like Melontinis, and Appletinis, and they remind me of Jolly Ranchers, but not quite as sweet.

I forgot to tell you about that other wine we tried, and now, i don't remember which one it was. My hubby would though. Either way, we both enjoyed it:)
